Is it normal to have fever of 101.2 and headache after two weeks of treatment for brain surgery?
My husband had a brain abscess and they gave him this medicine that he has to be taken every 12 hours but he keeps having headache and fever over 100 is it normal or the medicine is not working?
Some people need to read this situation better before responding because he already has an abscess so infection is already present. My thoughts it sounds like he has an abscess that is not responding to treatment and if that's the case the best thing to do is call the surgeon as more then likely he needs to be hospitalized for better management and yes this does need to happen soon because it doesn't look like the medication is working which means he more then likely needs stronger antibiotics.

His discharge instructions should have had warning signs about when to call his surgeon and a fever is one of those warning signs. Hopefully, he is taking some tylenol for the headaches on a regular basis. Call the surgeon and report the fevers.

You need to take him to the emergency room if he is experiencing a fever or headache after any kind of surgery.
Brain surgery is a major operation and if you're able to recognise early signs of deterioration, it's better to be safe than sorry.
A fever is often the first sign of an infection. An open craniotomy (brain surgery) and a minimally invasive procedure can both lead to infection at the suture site or inside the brain. You should have taken him to the doctor when a temperature is above 101 degrees F.
Please take him to the emergency room or doctor now.
