Is it normal to have fever of 101.2 and headache after two weeks of treatment for brain surgery?

My husband had a brain abscess and they gave him this medicine that he has to be taken every 12 hours but he keeps having headache and fever over 100 is it normal or the medicine is not working?

Some people need to read this situation better before responding because he already has an abscess so infection is already present. My thoughts it sounds like he has an abscess that is not responding to treatment and if that's the case the best thing to do is call the surgeon as more then likely he needs to be hospitalized for better management and yes this does need to happen soon because it doesn't look like the medication is working which means he more then likely needs stronger antibiotics.

Should we get a 2nd opinion on severe headache?

Mu husband woke up today with 'the worst headache of his life". He is NEVER sick and never gets headaches. He is dizzy, sick to his stomach and looks horrible w/low grade fever.
Went to a clinic and doc ran CBC, came back normal. So we left with antibiotics (for swollen glands) along with pain relief for headache. He also received (2) shots at the clinic for pain and nausea.

I am concerned that the sympton is being treated and have not found a root cause.
I was worried about meningitis or an aneurysm.
Any other explanation?
We will call his PCP on Monday or go to ER if symptoms do not improve or if they get worse.

I've always heard to go to the emergency room if you have a headache that you can describe as the worst you've ever had. I know you're worried. We had that happen here & it did turn out to be viral menengitis. They just gave IV fluids & said it had to run it's course. I think one of the things to do to see if it's that is for him to try to touch his chin to his chest & see if it hurts worse. I know she couldn't even sit back in a chair. It hurt her back to let her spine touch. It's a scary thing for your loved one to have a headache like that. I hope you are able to get to the bottom of it. You are right to take him to the ER if he's still feeling bad & has no improvement. Go with your gut feeling & make him do what you think is best. Good luck & I hope that by the time you read this he's on his way to feeling better.

What headache medicine do you take? How long until it works?

Looking for what Over-The-Counter (OTC) headache medicine you take and how long does it take for you to get results? Please just address the occasional headache, not migraines.

Nothing works for me except aspirin (no idea why).

And powdered aspirin works the fastest and best for me. (Stan-back powders, Goody's, BC).

I'd like to try Head-on though…curious if that actually works.

Goody's works in about 15 minutes and the headache is gone. Same with the other powdered aspirin brands. The all have some caffeine in them, which constricts the blood vessels in your head (which is sometimes a cause).

What's the best way to treat a cluster headache?

I'm a 22yr old female and I get all kinds of headaches except migraines (thank God). I know how to handle my tension headaches and my hormonal headaches, but these darn cluster headaches defeat me every time. The best treatment I've found so far is caffeine. It tempers the pain a little but I still can't bend over or sneeze without being blinded by pain.

I can't take most pain medicine because of the heart medication I'm on, which is just as well since they don't do anything for my headaches. But I've tried them all anyway, Excedrin, tylenol, even oxycontin (just makes me high), and the like. Any suggestions on how to handle these bad boys?

Talk to your Dr. There are several different kinds of medicines made specifically for these types of headaches, and your Dr. can probably find something you can take. The medicines treat the cause to stop the pain.
