What Makes The Water You Drink “Healthy Water”?
What makes the water you drink “healthy water”? Most of us know that there is problem with some of our drinking water – sometimes it is the taste, other times it’s the smell. But what ever it is, most of us don’t believe that our drinking water is healthy.
It’s estimated 60% to 80% of all cancers are environmental in origin. Several studies have demonstrated the presence of chemical carcinogens in surface, ground water, and municipal treated drinking water.
However, often overlooked are the beneficial properties in drinking water that can help protect us from cancer – namely total dissolved solids (TDS), hardness, and pH.
Drinking waterwith higher amounts of TDS and hardness results in lower heart disease and cancer mortality rates.
Fluoridation is a highly emotional and controversial issue in which it is difficult to separate fact from fiction. The bottom line: Is it effective? Is it safe?
Fluoride toxicity has been linked to genetic damage in plants and animals, birth defects in humans, plus a series of allergic reactions ranging from fatigue, headaches, urinary tract irritations, diarrhea and many other problems.
Dr. Dean Burk, former researcher with the National Cancer Institute, claims “one tenth of all cancer deaths in this country can be shown to be linked to fluoridation of public drinking water.”
Worldwide there is very little fluoridation. Countries that start usually end up stopping it.
Is the chlorine found in our water used for drinking is developing both cancer and atherosclerosis? Josepgh Price,MD, in the end of 1960 decade penned a fascinating, still not truly accepted book demonstrating the co-relation between “Coronaries, Cholesterol, Chlorine.”
His experiments clearly demonstrate that “the basic cause of atherosclerosis and heart attacks and most common forms of strokes is chlorine. The chlorine contained in drinking water.”
Can chlorine be linked to cancer too? Chlorine combines with natural organic matter creating cancer-causing trihalomethanes (THMs).
Studies from Louisiana, New York, Maryland, and Ohio reveal where there are higher levels of THMs there are higher levels of cancer. Proper water filtration systems can remove these carcinogens.
Bottled water is big business. Generally the bottled water tastes better in comparison the tap water. But is it “healthy water?” It depends on several factors.
Is it hard? Is it moderately high in TDS (total dissolved solids)? Most bottled waters in the United States do not give the information you need to answer these questions. Many bottled waters are processed water using distillation, reverse osmosis, de-ionization or filtration. Frankly, you can do this yourself and save money.
Of the more than 700 brands of bottled water available in the US, around 80% are processed water.
Purchase only bottled natural spring or artesian well waters that come closest to the “healthy water” criteria hardness 170 mg/l and TDS around 300 mg/l.
Another “healthy water” option is using an effective filter. Mediocre, excellent, and poor filters are easily available out in the market. Most states require 3rd party testing of water products; however, most people have difficulty understanding the results.
Preliminary research suggests that the ingestion of harmful chemicals from drinking water may not be the primary exposure.
Skin absorption rates for toxic chemicals in both children and adults are much higher than from oral ingestion for toluene, ethyl benzene, and styrene.Â
Inhalation during showering of TCE (trichloroethylene) was 6 to 80 times greater than from drinking the water. Lovers of hot tubs and pools take note.
One solution to consider is a whole-house filtration system for chemical removal, not mineral extraction. Point of use filters for bathing, showering, and drinking are also recommended.

A Natural Spider Vein Treatment
Varicose veins problem is a condition where a large volume of blood gets “trapped” behind your calves, legs or thighs. These veins in these areas get twisted and bloated. According to Wikipedia, Carl Arnold Ruge is credited with having first defined varicose veins as “any dilated, elongated and tortuous vein irrespective of size”. Although varicose veins are present in legs, they can grow anywhere. Now, imagine if you have varicose veins in your head. Ugh, that would be ugly. Some symptoms that you can experience when you have “spider veins” are aching and heavy legs, swelling of ankles and whitened irregular “scar-like” patches can appear. For some, the fastest and easiest way to get rid of varicose veins is through surgery. It seems that surgery is playing a bigger role for every type of human health condition and now, you can find a varicose vein treatment which involves surgical procedures.
However, going under the knife is just one of the many options for treating spider or varicose veins. There are many things that need to be considered if you want to get rid of varicose veins through surgical procedures. For a surgeon, he needs to find out if you have any underlying disease like heart problems or hypertension. You can’t go for a surgery if you have these types of ailments. Doctors would also consider your age before deciding if you are really qualifed or not to under surgical procedures. Now, what if he finds out you’re not qualified? Don’t worry, if you really want to get rid of varicose veins, you can go for a healthy, safe and effective varicose or spider vein treatment.
You can find some of these do-it-yourself, no-doctors-please natural and safe treatments on the Net. Various products are available at everyone’s disposal but still, there are some who really don’t want to go for something that should be taken internally like medicines and herbal supplements and instead look for a natural recipe or a natural varicose or spider vein removal treatment. There are even some book guides that can teach you to make your own treatments.

Chiropractic Treatment Relieves Carpal Tunnel Pain!
Introduction
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the most common nerve entrapment disorder. As the name suggests, these conditions take place when a nerve is trapped or constricted between other tissues of the body causing irritation and dysfunction of the nerve.
Anatomy
The carpal tunnel is located in the underside of the wrist and is a passageway in which the median nerve travels through on its way to innervate the hand and fingers. In addition to the median nerve, the carpal tunnel contains the nine tendons of the forearm muscles that are responsible for bending and flexing of the fingers and thumb. Also within the tunnel are arteries and lymphatic vessels that deliver circulation to the hand. The bottom and sides of this tunnel are formed by wrist bones and the top of the tunnel is covered by a strong band of connective tissue called the transverse carpal ligament. The carpal tunnel is a thickly-packed space about the size of an index finger. The flexor tendons, arteries and median nerve are expected to glide smoothly past each other during wrist and finger movement.
If the tendon size increases from inflammation or hypertrophy (growth), or if the carpal tunnel size dimenishes because of a mechanical dysfunction of the carpal bones, the median nerve can become constricted or entrapped within the carpal tunnel. The initial symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome usually include pain, numbness, paraesthesia (pins and needles) and tingling in the fingers and hands especially the thumb and adjacent two fingers. These symptoms are especially noticeable in the night and often wake people from their sleep as the individual has to sit up in bed and shake-out and/or rub the hands in order decrease these unpleasant feelings. In addition, activity can cause the hands to feel clumsy or weak, and fatigue easily. Eventually, grasping small objects using the thumb and fingers can be extremely affected and, without treatment, can result in complete debilitation of the hand.
The following are generic causes and corresponding conditions:
- repetitive and forceful grasping with the hands
- prolonged computer usage especially with poor wrist position
- activities that require repetitive bending of the wrist
- broken or dislocated bones in the wrist which produce swelling
- arthritis, especially the rheumatoid type
- thyroid gland imbalance
- sugar diabetes
- hormonal changes associated with menopause or pregnancy
Although any of the above can make one susceptible to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, in many cases the cause is unknown. Nevertheless, those who work with equipment that vibrates and/or perform their jobs in extreme temperatures often develop carpal tunnel symptoms. In addition, repetitive housework as seemingly inconsequential as wringing clothes by hand, can bring on carpal tunnel symptoms. However, the continuing increase in computer use is the most compelling explanation for the number of individuals who are suffering with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome today. This is becoming a major concern in the developed world where people of all ages are spending much of their time typing on a keyboard & clicking on a mouse.
Treatment
Proper diagnosis and management of this condition is essential in order to curtail the disabling symptoms associated with the advancement of CTS. I as, a Ventura Chiropractor has many years of experience in this area. Chiropractors are well-trained in treating CTS. Treatment by chiropractor can include ultrasound or low level laser to help reduce inflammation, electro therapy to strengthen weak muscles of the forearm, soft tissue massage to stretch contracted tissues and, of course, adjustments of the dysfunctional joints of the wrist. You might be advised to wear a splint or support, especially at night, to aid in the decompression of the carpal tunnel. Your Ventura Chiropractor will also give you specific exercises to stretch and/or strengthen muscles of the forearm and hand.
FrequentHeadaches
Frequent headaches can be a debilitating problem, detracting significantly from quality of life. The medical community breaks headaches into a system of categories, with primary headaches accounting for the vast majority of headaches. Cluster and secondary headaches are far rarer, but can present the patient with severe pain and more serious neurological issues. Although never life threatening, primary headaches can nonetheless be very serious, infringing on quality of life in many cases. Frequent headaches, even milder primary headaches, can have a serious effect on enjoyment of daily life.
How can frequent headaches be prevented? That depends on the source of the headaches. Primary headaches are frequently a symptom of tension, and can become frequent if the cirumstances that prompt them are a regular facet of daily life for the patient. Tension headaches are brought about when the patient undergoes significant emotional or physical stress. This kind of stress causes the muscles that cover the skull to contract, resulting in pain from the pressure. This can be difficult to prevent and treat. Over the counter medications typically do a good job in treating this kind of primary headache when it occurs.
Prevention is more about circumventing the kind of situations that prompt serious physical and emotional stress. This kind of stress results directly in contraction of the skull muscles, subsequently causing sometimes serious headaches. Frequent headaches can be a sign that life adjustments need to be made. If emotional stress is thought to be behind the frequent headaches, consider visiting a doctor about this stress, or taking steps in personal life to reduce the stress.
Frequent headaches that occur seemingly at random can be a sign of a more serious secondary problem. In these situations, a structural or chemical problem in the brain is to blame for the pain. This can signify a serious issue, such as a tumor growing in the brain. Although this is rarely the cause, frequent headaches should be cause for a visit with the doctor.
Over the counter medications are typically all that is needed to treat a primary headache. Aleve and ibuprofen work equally well to treat primary headaches. In more serious cases, therapeutic steps such as biofeedback may be needed in order to overcome the pain associated with frequent headaches. If none of these measures provide a remedy for the pain, consider seeing a specialist about the pain.
ClusterHeadacheTreatment
For a small segment of the population, cluster headaches can be a debilitating condition that strikes without warning. Cluster headaches attack at seemingly random intervals, for which they gain their name. Patients can go years without a single cluster headache, and suddenly suffer them for a period of weeks on end. The exact cause of cluster headaches is not known, although it is thought that stress, alcohol, and drugs can all play a role in promoting an attack. Even without these factors, however, a series of cluster headaches can befall a patient at any time in their life. A cluster headache is easy to differentiate from a normal headache because of its severity and distinct symptoms.
A sufferer of a cluster headache will often have a runny nose or eyes. The pain tends to focus behind one eye, and is often described as feeling like an icepick. This extremely uncomfortable sensation can become very intense, often times triggering a pain crisis in the patient. The pain is often intense enough to cause irrational behavior and extreme reactions. Immediate treatment is very important. Sedatives and pain killers can do a great deal to mitigate the devastating pain frequently associated with a cluster headache.
Cluster headache treatment is a difficult process because of the seemingly random nature of their attacks. Instead of a lifelong regimen of medication, cluster headache treatment is typically limited to lifestyle choices. Avoiding drugs and alcohol is an important first step in avoiding a triggering of cluster headaches. Although prevention is difficult, cluster headache treatment measures such as powerful pain killers can be necessary to have on hand.
Frequent cluster headaches are a definite sign that a visit to the doctor is in order. Although cluster headaches can occur without any discernable cause, they may sometimes be a sign of a deeper neurological issue. If this is the case, it is important that treatment be sought as soon as possible. Some forms of stress management may also be considered effective cluster headache treatment. Although the role of stress in cluster headache treatment is not certain, it is known to play a role in other headaches, and could potentially have an effect on the cluster variety of headaches. Significant emotional stress is known to cause a variety of physiological symptoms, and could play an important role in cluster headaches as well.
